New Topic and New Posting Schedule October 8, 2006

I’ll be interrupting my series on prewriting techniques to make a few changes around here. I started this blog a couple months ago, and since then I’ve been writing nothing but how-to posts every other day! I haven’t burned out yet, but I’m worried I will — especially with everything else I’ll be doing soon, like getting my driver’s license and then getting my first job (hopefully).
So, three things:
Thing #1: I’m going to start relearning math, since I’ve gotten pretty rusty. (If you know long division, I’d like to hear from you!)
Thing #2: I’ll be posting smaller, more personal posts as well as my comprehensive how-to guides. I don’t know about you, but I need a little variety. And now that I’ll be learning math, I need to let myself learn in smaller chunks, rather than trying to learn everything at once and put it together at the same time.
Thing #3: From now on, I’ll be posting about different subjects on different days of the week, instead of focusing on one subject for weeks at a time and then switching to a new one. My current plan is this: math, science, and technological stuff on Mondays; language, humanities, and social stuff on Wednesdays; and later, art and miscellaneous stuff on Fridays. This may very well change in the future, of course. I’m still not sure if or how I’ll offer a separate RSS feed for each of those days, but I’ll figure that out. (Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!) Depending on how much time I have, I’ll post my smaller, more personal posts on the other days of the week — or, if I’m really busy, I might have to downgrade a major post to a minor one sometimes. We’ll see how it goes.
So, check back on Monday (tomorrow) for my first math-related post, and on Wednesday for Prewriting Techniques: Brainstorming (Listing). See you then!
If you need any math help, I am always available. Not entirely sure on the presentation side (as in showing problems as they are intended, because that becomes a problem) but I will help however I can.
Liz, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog so much I’ve made it my home page. I don’t have a lot of time to indulge in blogs, but I’m currently reading through your August posts and finding myself enlightened and thankful that you have taken the time to share your knowledge. I’m sure your blog will evolve and change over time. I plan to continue visiting as much as possible
Thank you, Melissa! That’s very encouraging. I’ll look forward to reading your comments.
And I may just have to take you up on that offer, Chris. I’ll let you know when (yes, when, not if) I get stuck. Thanks.
